What is the process of applying for the Umbrella Scholarship?
Application for the umbrella scholarship can be done through the online mode. While applying, there are certain steps that need to be followed, the process of which is given below:
- Candidates who wish to apply for the scholarship need to visit the National Scholarship Portal.
- A tab called “New Registration” will appear on the dashboard.
- After clicking on which, Registrations Guideline web page will be displayed with all the instructions which the candidates needs to go through carefully and then select the undertaking checkboxes and click on the “continue” button.
- Following which the applicant will need to select their state of domicile and enter the scholarship category, the scholarship scheme type, the name, gender, date of birth, mobile number and email ID.
- Applicants are also supposed to provide the bank details that includes their bank name, the IFSC code, their account number, etc.
- The applicant is then supposed to select their Aadhar or bank account number as the identification details and then click on the “register” button.
- Registered mobile number is verified and then OTP send to that number
- The applicant is now supposed to login to the portal using the OTP that is sent on their mobile and then fill in the umbrella scholarship application form
- The candidates need to fill the form with utmost care because later changes cannot be made
- Candidates are supposed to submit only one application and in case they submit multiple applications then it will lead to the cancellation of the form
- After the application form is successfully completed an application ID and password is sent to the candidate that is used for future reference

- The scholarship amount is rewarded to a student to pursue his studies in any class for just one year. if a student is repeating the same class in the subsequent year he/she will not be able to receive the scholarship.
- If the student has a good result and regular attendance in class ninth and passes the class meritoriously, the scholarship will be renewed for class 10.
- The amount of the scholarship is disbursed only for the 10 months in an academic year
- If the government deems it correct, the benefits that the scholarship offers can be changed at any time.
- If it is found that the candidate has received the scholarship by unfair or dishonest means, the scholarship is then and there cancelled and the amount paid is recovered.
- The selected candidate must not be a beneficiary of any other scholarship program. Otherwise, the application will be canceled.

- The scholarship is provided to students only for pursuing education in India.
- If the government deems it correct the benefit of the scholarship or face can be changed at any time.
