UGC NET Syllabus 2026-27: UGC NET stands for University Grant Commission – National Eligibility Test. This test is a portal for those students wanting to pursue a career in the field of teaching. The UGC NET 2026 entrance examination will be conducted by the NTA for defining the eligibility of a candidate for pursuing the post of an assistant professor at various universities and colleges in the country. Information on the UGC NET JRF Fellowship
An amount of ₹ 31,000 will be provided for the first two years and a total of ₹ 35,000 will be provided for the remaining duration.
For the Humanities and Social Sciences sector, a Contingency Amount of ₹10,000 will be provided for the first two years and a total of ₹25,000 will be provided for the remaining duration.
For the Science sector, a Contingency Amount of ₹12,500 will be provided for the first two years and a total of ₹25,000 will be provided for the remaining duration
UGC NET 2026 Syllabus & Exam Pattern
The NET exam is divided into 2 papers and it is mandatory for the applicants to clear both these papers. Paper 1 is to be taken by all the applicants as it is a common question paper for everyone whereas paper 2 is based on the applicant’s choice of specialisation. Paper 1 comprises of 50 questions while paper consists of 100 questions making it a total of 300 marks divided into 150 questions with no negative marking. Applicants have are allowed a time duration of 3 hours to complete the test which includes both the papers.
