The national law School of India University, Bangalore, Karnataka which is popularly known as NLSIU Bangalore is the first law University in India and was established in the year 1987.It is one of the premier institute for studying law in India. The national law School of India University offers a variety of most sought after law courses to the students of both India and abroad like :-

NLSIU BA-LLB (HONS.)

 The university offers the BA LLB (hons.) course which is one of the most wanted courses amongst the youth. The eligibility criteria to get admission into this course is to have a valid 10 + 2 pass certificate with a minimum of 50% marks and a valid CLAT score. This course has a duration of 3 years and is bifurcated as tri semester per year.

NLSIU LLM

One year LLM post graduate degree program is also offered by this university in two major specializations that is the business loss and human Rights laws. This course is also bifurcated in a tri-semester wise arrangement. The eligibility criteria for this course is a valid CLAT score and a UG degree like LLB or an equivalent degree with a minimum of 55% of aggregate marks.

NLSIU MPP

The university also provides a master’s degree in public policy. In order to take admission into this course the candidates need to appear for PAT that is policy aptitude test which is an entrance test and then a personal interview round.

NLSIU PHD 

Apart from the above mentioned UG and PG degrees, the university also offers some doctoral level programs in various forms like M.Phil. , LLD and PHD. The eligibility criteria to take admission into this courses is to have a valid LLM degree from a recognized institute with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks. The selected candidates are then required to give an interview and then the students become eligible to take admission into the doctoral level degree.

• Library :- the library forms the heart of any institution and plays an important role in all the academic activities. Library is extremely important in a law School and in NLSIU , a huge library known as Shri Narayan Rao memorial national law library is established whose formation was generously assisted by Mrs. Sudha Narayan Murthy of Infosys.

• Hostels:- there are three residences for men known as the Ganga, Himalaya and Cauveri and three for women known as the Nilgiris and x-ray and mess block. Other than this, there are two PG women hostels as well.
• International training Centre:- a very well equipped international training Centre with lodging facilities in order to organize training programs was inaugurated by honorable chief justice Mr. Lahoti in 2018 . This training Centre is under the surveillance of a caretaker whose responsibility is to provide facilities at the Centre with a responsible attitude. A number of training programs have been organized at this center.

Gym:- The institute has a well-maintained gym with the latest equipment.

Sports:- There are various sports facilities for indoor and outdoor games. Sports tournaments are conducted every year at the campus.

NLSIU Festivals

• LeGala :- LeGala is the law school’s annual inter cultural fest. It attracts students from all over Bangalore and other places for various competitions like quizzing ,music, theatre and dance.
• Strawberry fields :- strawberry fields is one of the India’s largest student organized music show which is held along with LeGala.  The strawberry fields Gig has more than 40 bands from all over South in Asia participating in with an audience of more than 10000.
• Spiritis:- spiritis is an annual sports meet that involves students from the law colleges all over India it is organized by the sports committee of the SBA which is in collaboration with the sports authority of India.

NLSIU achievements and awards

• A team from NLSIU that consisted of Mr Harshvardhan Goel who was from third year, Ms Priyanka Madan and Mansi Sood (5th year) won the international area mooting competition which was organized by the city University of Hong Kong, China ,international economic and trade arbitration commission, Columbia law School, and UNCITRAL which was held in Hong Kong from 28 July to 2nd August 2014
• Miss Jyoti Maheshwari (ID 1723) was appointed for the valuable and highly honorable Young India fellowship 2014-15 on which students from various other fields including the NRI also take part. There are only two hundred students in total who are selected for this.
• The NLSIU team that consisted of  Akshaya Ramadurai, Raag Yadav, Geeta Hari Haran and Shreya Jain triumphed the finals of Jessup Moot court competition on 7th April 2015 after defeating the Singapore management University SMU.

NLSIU scholarship

• The Shankaramma  memorial trust scholarship:- scholarship of amount rupees 500 is given to two or more than two students who basically belong to Andhra Pradesh and have taken admission in the BA LLB hons or LLM courses at the nls
• Justice Venkataswamy Mrs. and Mr. Mariappa Gowda and Mrs. and Mr. B Narayan scholarship :- this scholarship is given to the deserving candidates towards his or her boarding and lodging charges in the university.

Application procedure 

The interested students are required to download the admission form from the above mentioned official website and fill in the details. An admission fee of 1100 is to be paid. The selected candidates will get their names on the merit list. They then have to appear for an interview round.
