JNTU Admission 2026-27 Eligibility Criteria
To get admission in different courses offered by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), candidates must meet all the criteria mentioned as below:
- To get admission in undergraduate programmes, candidates must possess the marksheet of higher secondary school and should have scored at least 50% marks from a well known board.
- To get admission in a postgraduate programme, candidates must have completed their graduation in relevant subjects and must have secured at least 50% marks. They must have done their graduation from a well known institution.
JNTU Admission Criteria 2026
The admission to the PG courses is based on the rank scored by the candidate in the respective exams conducted by the TSCHE, Hyderabad.
Besides, the university also offers the facility of Distance Education to the students, for which it has its own institution i.e. The School Of Continuing and Distance Education. This institute administers all the things related to disparting education beyond the physical boundaries of the university.
Courses that come under Distance Education include MBA, MCA, M.Sc. (Chemistry) and various PG Diploma in Management.
Performance in the entrance examination that is administered by JNT University Hyderabad is used to determine who will be accepted into the normal M.Sc. program as well as the PG Diploma program. The exam will last for one hour and consist of sixty multiple-choice questions of an objective nature. At the time of admission, a candidate’s age will be taken into consideration, and older applicants will be given preference over younger applicants if they both scored the same number of points on the entrance examination.
The admission standards for the B.Tech program are determined by the individual’s rank in the Engineering common entrance test that is administered by the TSCHE in Hyderabad.
Admission to M.Tech, M.Pharmacy, MCA Programmes is divided into three categories:
- Regular Stream: AICTE Scholarship and Stipend will be provided to the candidates who have qualified GATE.
- Sponsored Category: In this category, students must have two years of work experience and must be sponsored by the organization, where the student is currently working.
- Non-Sponsored (self supporting) Category: Under this category, preference will be given for GATE and PGECET qualified candidates. However, they are not eligible for the scholarship.

Merit List
The merit list of JNTU varies from course to course and includes the names of students who have been shortlisted on the basis of performance in the entrance examination given by the students.
JNTU Reservation Criteria
- Women are provided with a reservation of 33%.
- 85% of the seats are reserved for the local students.
- The remaining 15% will be considered non-reserved.
Candidates who can apply for the non-reserved seats include:
- Students should be local candidates.
- 10 years should be the maximum period of the candidate’s residence or parents have resided in the State for a total period of ten years.
- The parents who are in the state or government service, their children are eligible for non- reserved seats.
- Spouses of those in the employment of the State or Central Government.
Important Instructions:
- It is mandatory that a candidate must have an attendance 75% to sit in the examination. If there is less attendance finds the university authority of a candidate then he/she will not be able to take the examination.
