HPNLU Admission 2026: HPNLU Application Form, Eligibility & Last Dates

HPNLU Admission 2026-26: Admission to the law courses offered by the Himachal Pradesh National Law University will be done on the basis of the marks scored by the candidates in the CLAT 2026 entrance examination. The CLAT 2026 examination was conducted on 3 December 2026. Candidates were required to submit the online registration form for CLAT 2026 before 10 November 2026. The university will soon open the online portal where the students can submit their choice for admission to HNPLU.

HPNLU Admission 2026-27 Latest Updates

• The registration form for CLAT 2026 was released on the official portal of the authority. 10 November 2026 was the last date to complete the online registration for CLAT 2026.
• The online registration form for HPNLU Admission 2026-27 has not yet been released by the university on their official website. It is expected to be released in the month of April 2026.

HPNLU Admission 2026-27

Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU) was established in the year 2022 by the State Government. It is situated in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. The university stands on the 5^th position in the 2019 NIRF ranking. It is affiliated by UGC and approved by the Bar Council of India. The university offers four courses namely- BA LLB, BBA LLB, Ph.D., and LLM.

The University is considered as the best place for study and learning in law, also helps to develop the overall personality of students and provides placement facilities to them. HPNLU Eligibility Criteria-

Aspirants who wants to take admission should first check the eligibility criteria for every course. Because some course have different criteria. The eligibility criteria for different courses will be below.

Himachal Pradesh National Law University BA LLB and BBA LLB Admission 2026-27

The university offers two UG level programs of 5 years namely BA LLB and BBA LLB. Both programs are for full-time. Aspirants who wants to take admission in these two programs should pass 10+2 with at least 50% aggregate marks. The score of CLAT is also considered while taking admissions.

Himachal Pradesh National Law University Ph.D. Admission 2026-27

For taking admission in the Ph.D. program, the candidates should first give an entrance test and after that a presentation round  is also there. But those candidates who have qualified UGC NET/JRF will not have to give entrance test. They are eligible for the presentation round.

Himachal Pradesh National Law University LLM Admission 2026-27

The university offers LLM in two specializations Criminal Law and Constitutional Law. This program is of 1 year and consists of 4 semesters.  The maximum time duration for the completion of course is 4 years. Aspirants who wants to take admission in this program should have minimum 55% marks in LLB/ Five year Integrated LLB or any equivalent degree. The score of CLAT is also considered while taking admission. 

Himachal Pradesh National Law University Entrance Test 2026 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern is different for each program. However, there will be no negative marking for the entrance exam.

Exam Pattern for BA LLB and BBA LLB-

Total 150 multiple type questions will be asked from four sections. The four sections are- Quantitative Aptitude, English Comprehensive, General Awareness and Legal Awareness and Reasoning.

Exam Pattern for Ph.D.-

For the Ph.D., there will be two papers. Paper 1 will cover the topic of Legal Research Methodology and total 50 multiple-type questions will be asked. The maximum mark will be 100. Paper 2 will cover the topic of Law and Social Transformation and 1 Essay question of 50 marks will be asked from the topic. So, there will be total of 51 questions with 150 maximum marks.

Exam Pattern for LLM-

For LLM the exam structure contains MCQs of total 120 marks and one Essay question of 30 marks from the topic of Contemporary Legal Problems.

Application Process for Ph.D.-

1. Aspirants have to first register on the official website of the university. 
2. Now, candidates have to first download the application form and then submit it along with the required documents 
3. At last, the merit list will be announced. The basis of that merit list will be the marks obtained in qualifying exam/entrance test and presentation round. 

HPNLU Application Process for BA LLB, BBA LLB and LLM-

1. Aspirants have to first register on the official website of CLAT.
2. Now, aspirants should fill the application form from the university website.
3. Candidates should submit the form along with the required documents. 
4. Candidates will be shortlisted according to the CLAT scores.

Information Regarding Fee Submission:

• In every program there will be an annual increase of Rs. 5000/- in tuition fee of every academic session.
• The payment of fee shall be made ONLINE only. The form is available on the official website www.hpnlu.ac.in 
• One can submit the fee in two installments because the course is based on the semester system. The next installment shall be also paid online.
