What tips must be taken care of while hoisting a flag?
The Flag must be hosted following the Flag Code of India 2002. The Indian Flag must be hoisted with dignity and one should take care of the below-mentioned steps to be followed while hoisting the flag.
- Place the Indian Flag distinctly and hoist it with dignity.
- While hoisting a flag horizontally on a wall, make sure that the saffron band is at the upper side and while hoisting a flag vertically, make sure that the saffron band must be on the left of a person facing it.
- Do not host damaged Tiranga.
- Ensure that no other flag/flowers/garlands/emblem is hoisted or placed above or along with the National Flag.
- The National Flag must not be used on objects or things to be wrapped with /delivered with /received. Also, it must not be used to cover the vehicle’s side or top part of the vehicle.
- The National Flag must not be used to cover or with a piece of cloth or costume, uniform or something that is worn below the waist. It is only allowed for State, Military, and Central Para Military forces funerals. Also, the Print of the National Flag on handkerchiefs, cushions, napkins, undergarments, any kind of dress material, etc. is strictly prohibited.
- Do not use it to cover a speaker’s desk and do not drape or place it over a speaker’s platform.
