• Human Genome project.

Aim:- The human Genome project or HGP is an initiative of the government which dealt with sequencing of DNA of the entire heterochromatic genetic code. This project is financed by the government and it suffered a lot of criticism in it’s initial period by many individuals.

Theory:- this project is carried out in two steps with the motive of DNA sequencing with the help of information provided from the yeast and worm studies. The first step is the shotgun process in which human chromosomes were differentiated into large sized DNA segments and in the second step, these segments were subdivided into smaller, alternative DNA fragments.

• Greenhouse effect

The Atmosphere of Earth is not constant and is subjected to change. The tropical forests in the south have shifted to colder regions and the polar caps in the north have extended to the northern United Nations, Asia and Europe. Scientists all around the world believe that the human activities are majorly responsible for the change in climatic conditions.

Theory:- In a greenhouse, the heat gets stuck into it and does not escape. Because of this, the temperature of the greenhouse continuously rises affecting the life in it. A similar type of process takes place on Earth. The heat and UV rays from the sun reaches the earth and stays in it affecting the life. 

Like in a closed car, the heat gets in and does not escape, also serves as a type of greenhouse effect. This can be studied with the help of two glass jars, a polythene bag, cold water, 10 ice cubes and a thermometer.

• Studying the blood group

Blood acts as a connective tissue and is required for human survival as it transports oxygen. According to the ABO blood grouping system that was invented by Karl Landsteiner, there are four types of blood groups found in humans namely A, B, AB and O. These can be identified with the help of antibodies and antigens. Before carrying out blood transfusion, it is necessary to ensure that the blood group of the donor and that of the recipient matches in order to prevent life threatening situations. This biology project deals with the basics of blood grouping. It can prove to be really interesting as it involves a lot of lab work.

• Vermicomposting

• How Plants do Transpiration?

Plants also have different methods to survive, as human beings do. Plants lose water through their stomata or leaf pores. This is known as a transparent process, adding water to the air through it contributes significantly to the water cycle. This project will help students in gaining in-depth knowledge about how water pressure is different in plant cells.
