Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research is also known as VIMSAR Burla. It is a government institution that was established in the year 1959. It is affiliated by Sambalpur University. It is situated in Sambalpur, Orrisa. The main motto of the University is “To serve others always with a kind heart”. It provides medical education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It is approved by Medical Council of India.
Students of this University are provided with various facilities such as Gymnasium, Canteen, Sports & Games facility, Post office facility, Bank facility and many more such facilities. The University also provides scholarship to meritorious students.
For MBBS course, the candidates should have passed HSC or 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from any recognised board. For MD courses, the candidates should have done MBBS from any institute recognised by MCI. Selection will be done on the basis of NEET score.

VIMSAR Burla ADMISSION PROCEDURE 2026
The admission process is quite simple. You can visit the official website www.vimsar.ac.in. The process is different for undergraduate and postgraduate candidates.
- For Undergraduates , candidates can apply through the college through the NEET UG medical scoreboard.
- For Postgraduates, candidates can apply through the college through the NEET PG medical scoreboard.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate score in PCB/
10+2 with 50% + NEET. There is different eligibility criteria for different courses. The candidates should have gone through a HSC or 10+2 in physics,chemistry and mathematics from any recognised board.
VIMSAR Burla COURSES OFFERED
There are numerous courses available in this university. Some highlighting courses are MBBS, MD, MD Biochemistry, MD Dermatology and so on. College offers four and half year MBBS course with one year compulsary internship in affiliated hospitals. The college also offers diploma in various paramedical fields.
AGE CRITERIA
The age limit mainly depends on both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
For UG
Candidates must have completed the minimum age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the given age critera on or before 31st December of the the current year for taking admission in the 1st year MBBS course
For PG
Candidates must have completed the MBBS from a recognised government college and they must have 1 year of internship experience.
VIMSAR Burla APPLICATION PROCESS 2026
VIMSAR Burla admission for PG levels 2nd round has been started on June 2026. Counselling has been started on 12th March 2026. The form filling last date was November 2019
It is essential to register on the site to participate in the councilling process. The result declaration for the second round took place on 14 June. The Mopup round details are to be declared soon so the candidates must visit the website regularly.

The process are as follows :-

✓ Enroll yourself for the counselling
✓ Candidates should keep the password safely
✓ Now pay the Counselling fees
STEP 2
✓ After the online registration, the candidates must choose the subject according to their preferences.
✓ You can also modify it if you want to change the subject.
✓ Now you will have to lock the subject and take the printout of your submitted choices
✓ If the candidates doesn’t lock the subject then it will automatically get locked
Note : Seat will be allocated to the candidates by category, availability of seats.
