TIFR Admission 2024: GS Entrance Exam, Application Form, Last Date 2024

Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) is a very prestigious deemed university located in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The university offers many programs. The university offers many integrated and Ph.D. programs. The admission dates for TIFR (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research) for 2024 are as follows:

TIFR Eligibility Criteria: 

For those aspiring to join for an integrated M.Sc.- Ph.D. or Ph.D. program alone, they have to appear for the GS exam which is conducted in the 2nd week of December. The results are declared in the last week of January. For the Ph.D. program, there is a separate entrance test. It is conducted in the last week of January. Candidates who wish to join for integrated programs should have done their graduate degree in the same field. If it is for PhD then the candidate must have a master’s degree in the same field. The selection depends on the candidate’s performance in group discussion and entrance test. 

Courses offered by TIFR

Tata Institute of Fundamental Research offers programs in various streams. The integrated program offers specializations in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. For Ph.D., the specializations are offered in the field of Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Computer and System Sciences. All the courses are research based which giving practical knowledge so students can serve the nation well with their talent.

Duration:

Time to complete integrated courses is 6 years. For PhD programmes, duration of the course will be of 5 years. 

TIFR Application process:

Interested candidates can apply for admission via online and offline mode. Before proceeding please read all the guidelines carefully related to filling of the application form, eligibility criteria, courses, fee structure and duration. For online application, aspirants have to fill in the form which is available in the official site of the university. One thing to be noted here, the candidates have to get a scanned copy of passport size photograph and academic details before applying. Take a print out of the form for future response.

Each candidate will be given a login id and password to complete the application process on their mobile and email id. In the case of offline application, the candidate has to send it to concerned departments.

TIFR Admission process:

The final selection will be done on the basis of the candidate’s performance on GS exam which is normally conducted on the 2^nd week of December. The results are normally announced by the last week of January.  Results are published on the official website of the university. 

Admission Process for Ph.D. Science Education 2024:

The eligibility to apply for this course is that candidate should have completed any of the below courses:

• M.Sc. (any specialization)
• MTech or M.E
• MA/MSW (in social, behavioural, Science, Psychology, Linguistics, Sociology, Economics, Anthropology)
• M.Ed. (Undergraduate degree in any of these Science, Social Science, Humanities)

Candidates who wish to apply for this program has to apply through the official website. There is an application fee which comes to Rs.900/- for male students and Rs.300/- for female students. The university also offers scholarship for eligible students. The amount of scholarship will be Rs.25,000/- per month till registration and after that Rs.28,000/-. In addition, there will also be deduction of up to 30% for on campus accommodation. The university also offers an annual contingency grant of Rs.32,000/-
