About Surrey School District

Campus Location
More than 85 percent of parents prefer public education in British Columbia, which provides a standard curriculum and government-certified teachers. State-funded schools are all around supported by the BC government, offering a tempting assortment of scholastic and elective classes, just as advancing extra-curricular exercises.
All Surrey schools deliver the same high quality of academic and elective programming within the City of Surrey but differ in scale, specialization and venue. International students, incorporated into regular classes, receive welcome support from school staff and friendly Canadian students. As required, English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction is given.
International students who complete all requirements successfully earn a graduation certificate known as the B.C. Dogwood Diploma: the same one awarded to local students in high school.

Accommodation Programs
Surrey Schools does not provide homestay accommodation but directs clients to the homestay service provider for assistance. The Region is focused on guaranteeing that homestay game plans follow the BC Common freedoms Code and that solicitations or inclinations communicated by worldwide understudies who abuse the Code are rejected by homestay service providers. The District agrees that foreign students come to Canada to build their English language skills, and English must be the primary language spoken by all homestay hosts at home. Operations
Surrey and White Rock deliver a wide variety of artistic and sporting events, from world-class sports facilities to top performance venues. With mountains, oceans, and lakes nearby, skiing, snowboarding, sailing, swimming, and fishing are popular recreational opportunities. Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities, athletics, and school-based clubs, from music and theatre to cricket, soccer, basketball, baseball, volleyball, hockey, and track & field.

Budget
For the 2013-14 school year, Surrey School District balanced its budget.[10] For the 2013-2014 school year, a $600 million proposed operating budget was approved. Which contains $573 million in grants from the provincial government and $15 million in district revenue. In unspent money, an extra $12.3 million was found and another $4 million was to come from the reduction of spending and some job losses.
An overall decrease of 45 positions was observed, including 25 teachers and 17 support staff, predominantly through attrition. One of the few districts in the province seeing a rise in enrolment is the Surrey School District.
To address overcapacity, the district has 273 portable devices. In May 2016, the provincial government announced a $100 million contribution to finance six initiatives by the end of 2020 to add 2,700 new student spaces. The District now has 361 Portable Classrooms. September 2019.
