The university’s mission is to uphold Shastric legacy and understanding of the Shastras by demonstrating its applicability to issues in contemporary society. The University is dedicated to high-level study in other Asian languages and literatures that have an impact on Sanskrit literature in addition to advanced studies in Sanskrit literature. Admission:
The Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeeth conducts admission online and reserves some seats for reserved category students which are given below:
- 15 percent of seats are reserved by the university for the students who belong to the SC category.
- 7.5 percent of seats are reserved by the university for the students who belong to the ST category.
- 27 percent of seats are reserved by the university for the students who belong to the OBC category.
- 10 percent of seats are reserved by the university for the students who belong to the EWS category.
- 3 percent of seats are reserved by the university for the students who belong to the PWD category.

Courses offered:
The University offers Undergraduate courses in Shastri(B.A), B.A(Yoga) and Shiksha Shastri/B.Ed in various subjects.
- First, Shastri(B.A) course duration is three years
- Second, B.A(Yoga) course duration is three years that comes with six semesters.
- Third, Shiksha Shastri/B. Ed course duration is two years that comes with four semesters.
Eligibility Criteria:
Shastri (B.A) course:
- Candidates applying for Shastri(B.A) should pass the Intermediate/equivalent examination conducted by the University
- Similarly, the Entrance test conducted by the University should be passed.
- Another key point is Candidate should be minimum age of 16 years.
Shiksha Shastri/B. Ed course:
- Candidates applying for Shiksha Shastri/B. Ed should be a minimum age of 20 years.
- Particularly, candidates should obtain 50%marks or equivalent grade in Shastri/B.A with Sanskrit/ Uttar Madhyama/ Prak Shastri exam.
- Guidelines issued by NCTE are considered to be equally important.
PG courses offered:
The Univerity offers PG courses in Acharya(M.A) that comes with a period of two years.
Similarly, M.A(Yoga) and Shiksha Acharya/M. Ed comes with a period of two years.
Eligibility Criteria for Acharya M.A Course:
- Candidates applying for this course should have passed Shastri/B.A with Sanskrit or equivalent examination
- Likewise, the entrance test conducted by the University should also be passed by the Candidate
- Minimum age should be 19 years.
Eligibility Criteria For Shiksha Acharya/M.Ed course:
- Candidates applying for this course should have passed with at least 50% marks in Shiksha Shastri/B. Ed or Shastri /B.A or Acharya/M.A with Sanskrit
- Candidates appearing for Qualifying exam can also apply.
- Guidelines issued by NCTE also to be considered as equally important.
M.Phil Course:
The University offers M.Phil course with a duration of one year.
Eligibility Criteria For P.hD:
- Candidates minimum age limit should be 22 years.
- Candidates with a minimum of 55% marks in the aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ is considered to be eligible
- Similarly, the candidate should pass the entrance test conducted by the University.
PhD course:
The University offers two courses in PhD and below are the details:
- Vashistacharya(M.phil)- Course duration is one year
- Vidyavaridhi(PhD)- Course duration comes with a minimum of 3 years to a maximum of 6 years.
Eligibility criteria for M.Phil & PhD:
- For M.Phil & PhD courses, the candidate should have a Master’s degree with a minimum of 55% marks in the aggregate or its equivalent grade.
- Another key point is the Entrance test conducted by the University which candidate should pass.
