The entrance exam for Punjabi University 2026 is the Punjabi University Entrance Test (PUET). The last date to apply for undergraduate and postgraduate courses is July 31, 2026.

• Punjab Assembly established Punjabi University, Patiala under the Punjab Act No. 35 of 1961. Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the then President of India laid foundation of Punjabi University on June 24, 1962. More than 30 colleges are affiliated to Punjabi University. The university is spread over 300 acres of land. The university offers courses in Humanities, Arts, Sciences, Engineering Languages, Technology streams.

The university offers B.Sc., B.A., B.Com, B.C.A., B.VOC, and B.P.Ed, MA, MCom etc. Punjabi University was established in the year of 1962, 30th April. However it is a State University which is located in Patiala, Punjab, India.

The last date to apply for Punjabi University MBA admissions is till June 24. The date is without the fine, last date with fine is June 31. Punjabi University admissions 2026-27 has been started for UG and PG courses. The last date to fill the application form with the late fee for MTech and MCA is June 27. 

Punjabi University, Patila was founded by the Dr. S Radhakrishnan, the former President of India in the year 1962. The university was formed by a Punjab Act No. 35 by the Punjab Assembly. More than 200 colleges are affiliated with the university. The university has a total of 19 constituent colleges, 6 regional centres, and more than 60 research departments. The University has 6 regional centres. As mentioned, more than 60 research departments are there through which Punjabi University offers courses. These are the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Life Sciences, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Engineering etc. The course list includes diploma, certificate, post-diploma, ug, pg and doctoral courses. Meaning that, for the ug course, marks obtained in class 12th are considered while for pg admission, graduation marks will be considered. Punjabi University UG Admissions 2026

There are many streams in which ug courses are offered at Punjabi University. These courses include law, arts, science etc. Courses such as BA, Bcom admissions are offered on merit. Merit- marks obtained in the qualifying examination. And for some courses, the university takes an entrance examination. 

Punjabi University Admissions

Punjabi University Engineering Admission 2026

Various Engineering courses are offered for admissions. These include BTech, and MTech in any specialisations along with BTech and MTech integrated programs. These courses’ admission needs a good score in the national level entrance exam. BTech shall be based on JEE Main scores and for the rest courses, admissions are done through merit. Diploma holders will get the seats for lateral entry and if by any chance, seats are left BSc holders can take it. • Specializations offered in Btech and Btech lateral entry courses at the Punjabi University are mechanical engineering, civil engineering, computer science and engineering, electronics and communication engineering, and electronics and communication engineering.
• B Tech lateral entry eligibility- Diploma in engineering with 50% mark. Bsc holders can also apply. In addition, the university gives admission to Burch-MBA integrated programs as well.

Punjabi University PG Admissions 2026

Two full time courses and a part time MTech course is offered at Punjabi University. MTech admission is only offered to students who will have valid scores in GATE. First, the seats shall be filled through GATE and if seats remain vacant, the admission shall be done through the merit of the entrance examination which is conducted by the university itself. Civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electronics and communication engineering, artificial intelligence and data sciences are specifications offered in MTech at Punjabi University. Having a BE/B Tech with 60% marks is the minimum admission requirement. 

Punjabi University PhD Admission

PhD program in the Punjabi University Is offered in 52 specialisations. The university also provides an Mphil degree for admissions. A common entrance test is conducted to offer admission to these courses- Mphil and Phd. There shall also be an interview round for these students who have cleared the entrance test conducted by the university.  UGC-CSIR NET (JRF)/SLET (Punjab State)/GATE/GPAT candidates who have qualified in it need not to appear for the university’s entrance exam. But they have to appear for the interview round conducted by the concerned research department.

The Department of Distance Education:

This department was established in 1968 to giving higher education to those students who are from remote areas. As regular courses this department offered various UG, PG, Diploma and PG Diploma programs. 

Currently, the Department has 37 multi-faculty programs including professional and job-oriented programs also.

Eligibility Criteria

• Therefore candidates who are willing to apply for the B.Tech courses have to pass their 12th with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English as their compulsory subjects.
• While the courses BA, B.Sc and BA LLB admissions, candidates should have completed their 12th examination from any recognized Board with atleast 50% marks in aggregate. Whereas 45% marks for reserved category.
• Now for the admission in LLB courses candidates should have completed their Graduation with atleast 45% marks in aggregate and 40% marks for reserved category.
• Moreover for the admissions in B.Pharm or BPT courses, candidate should have completed 12th examination in Physics, Chemistry and Biology with atleast 50% marks in aggregate.
• Candidate should have completed their 12th examination from any recognized Board with atleast 45% marks in aggregate to take admission in BHM courses.
• Moreover for the admission in LLM courses, candidates should have passed their LLB degree with atleast 55% marks in aggregate and 50% marks for reserved candidates.
• In general, the admissions in M.Tech courses is done where the candidates should have completed their  BE/ B.Tech degree in any relevant subject with atleast 55% marks in aggregate. However the selection of candidates should be done on the basis of valid scores in GATE.
• Similarly, selection of candidates for M.Pharm courses is done where the candidates have to pass their B.Pharm degree with atleast 50% marks in aggregate.
• However, candidates who are willing to apply for the MA/ M.Sc/ M.Com/ MBA courses are need to complete their graduation in any relevant subject from any recognized University with atleast 50% marks in aggregate.
• Here, for the admissions in MCA courses candidates should have completed their Graduation from any recognized University with Mathematics as a compulsory subject in 12th level or in graduation level.

Firstly to apply for the admission process candidates need to visit the official website of the University.

• Where candidates are required to register their name by filling up the Registration Form through online after selecting the desiring course.
• Then fill the application form with all the necessary details such as your personal information like – Your Name, Father’s Name, Date of Birth, Mobile no., Email address, etc.
• Now submit all the required documents along with the application fee paid online via Debit or Credit Card or Net Banking.
• Finally courses which are not based on entrance exam that is the admissions without entrance exam, for those particular courses the application fee is Rs. 1,000/-   for general category and Rs. 700/-  for SC/ ST category.
