NLUJAA Admission 2026-27: The National Law University & Judiciary Academy offers admission to a number of degree programmes at the undergraduate, and the postgraduate level. NLUA, Assam, also known as National Law University & Judicial Academy, Assam, was founded in 2009 as “National Law School & Judicial Academy” by the Assam government. NLUJAA Admission 2026-27
The NLUJAA University starts its admission in the month of April. Admission is done through the entrance examination i.e. CLAT. It also offers part time and full time Ph.D. programmes. It reserves some percentage of admission for students belonging to SC and ST.
- 7% of seats is reserved for SC candidates belonging to Assam
- 10% seats is reserved for ST candidates, citizen of assam belonging to plains
- 5% seats are reserved for ST candidates, citizens of Assam belonging to hills.

- UNIVERSITY GRANTS COMMISSION (UGC) SECTION 12-B – According to notification number F.9-4/2012(CPP-I/PU) dated December 6, 2018, the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam, is recognised under section 12-B of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
- ASSOCIATION OF INDIAN UNIVERSITIES (AIU) – Since June 5th, 2012, the National Law University and Judicial Academy in Assam has been a professional member of the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi, a nodal organisation that represents the universities in the nation and maintains relations with the Government of India.
- BAR COUNCIL OF INDIA (BCI) – For its B.A., LL.B.(Hons.) Five-Year Integrated Course with a strength of two sections, each with 60 (sixty) students, the University has received an extension of approval of affiliation from the BAR Council of India, via letter no. BCI: D: 436: 2026 (LE/Std. 10/11.04.2026) for a period of FIVE YEARS from Academic Year 2026-27 to 2026-27.
- UNIVERSITY GRANTS COMMISSION (UGC) SECTION 2-F – According to notification number F.9-4/2012(CPP-I/PU) dated May 2012, the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam, is recognised under section 2-F of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
NLUJAA Admission 2026-27 Courses
The university specially deals with the entire field of legal studies. The university provides courses such as B.A.LLB, B.Com LLB, which is known as 5-year integrated course. Together with, the university offers LLB 3-year course. Additionally, the university provides a Masters course in legal studies named for fear that LLM. LLM is only for a year course in which the university has minimal seats for the student, which is around ten seats per year.
Along with they provide PhD in legal studies in various fields.
Admission procedure of National Law University & Judicial Academy
It is must for the candidates to face the entrance exam of law which is conduct by all over India which is CLAT examination.

Admission Process for PhD course :-
1. The candidates have to download the application form from the university website.
2. Submit the application form along with the required documents .
3. The eligible candidates will be selected for the interview round.
4. The merit list will be announced on the basis of admission test & the interview.
UG Admission
The NLUJAA University provides admission to UG courses on the basis of marks obtained in CLAT examination and must have scored at least 45% marks in class 12th. Total seats in this course is 60 out of which 47 is reserved for general category candidates and 15 seats are reserved for candidates who are permanent members of Assam.
PG Admission
The NLUJAA University provides admission to LLM courses for only one year. Candidates need to appear for the entrance examination to get admission in this course. In the PG programme, 23 seats are reserved for general category candidates. Also, 8 seats are reserved for candidates who are permanent members of Assam.
Eligibility Criteria for the admission in National Law University & Judicial Academy
There are multiple eligibility criteria for different courses. Additionally, if a candidate wants to take admission in Bechlores course, so, they have to face the standard law entrance test, which is CLAT. As well as, in the candidate wants to take admission in PhD Courses then they should face the entrance exam which is conducted by the university. Of course, but it can be done in the form of an interview.
The university owns limited seats in the courses. They only have limited 60 seats for BALLB course.
• The candidate must hold 50% marks in their 12th exam.
• The university provides an extraordinary 5% relief for the ST, SC and OBC category.
• Consequently, taking admission in Masters course LLM the candidate should have 55% marks in their bachelor’s degree.
Eligibility for the Ph.D. course in legal studies in National Law University & Judicial Academy
If a candidate wants to be eligible for admission In PhD. Then he should have passed their master’s degree with law.
• The candidate should score at least 55% for general or 50% for ST/SC/OBC consequently for being eligible for PhD in law.
• If the candidate is a judge in any high court. Then he/she is eligible for the PhD course.
• Public policy of law of he /she should be cleared the final exam of ICAI Delhi.
• Candidate can pass the company sector exam which is conducted by the ICSI for being eligible for PhD.

CLAT Counseling and Merit List
Candidates who had already passed the CLAT entrance examination are required to finish two procedures, the first of which is to update their preferred national law university (NLU), and the second of which is to pay the fees, which amount to Rs 50,000.
Candidates will be contacted by the specific NLUs in order to participate in the counseling process using the five provisional merit lists. The CLAT Consortium will be the one to publish the merit list.
Candidates who wish to have their names included on the merit list have three alternatives to choose from. That is, individuals have the option to either take the seat that has been assigned to them, submit an application for an upgrade, or withdraw from the admission process.
Candidates whose names are not included on the first list are required to wait until the second list is made public before moving on to the next round.
