Maharshi Dayanand University, originally known as Rohtak University, Rohtak, was founded in 1976 by Act No. 25 of the Haryana Legislative Assembly with the goal of promoting inter-disciplinary higher research and education in the domains of environmental, ecological, and life sciences. In 1977, it was renamed Maharshi Dayanand University after a famous philosopher and social activist, Maharshi Dayanand. It has been accredited by NAAC with an ‘A+ grade. The university intends to be a world-class ‘transformative learning community,’ known for its brilliance in teaching, research, and service, as well as a facilitator for intellectual, social, cultural, and economic growth. Through the goal of achieving excellence in education, innovation, experiential learning, intercultural awareness, and community outreach, the university is devoted to transforming lives and serving society.
Maharishi Dayanand University was established in the year of 1976. It offers an array of courses at UG, PG and doctoral levels across 17 streams some of which are Arts, Sciences, Law, etc. Maharishi Dayanand University Admission to most of the courses is done through state and national level entrance examination scores. MDU UG Admission 2026-27
The Maharshi Dayanand University offers admission to a number of undergraduate degree programmes in various fields of study. The undergraduate courses offered by the university includes BA, BSc, BCom, etc. Admission to the undergraduate degree programmes offered as part of MDU Admission 2026-27 is done on the basis of the merit list prepared by the university considering the marks scored by the candidates in their qualifying examination. However, admission to some of the courses is also done on the basis of the marks scored in the entrance examination.
Those who have completed their higher secondary level of education i.e. 10+2 are eligible to opt for MDU UG Admission 2026-27. MDU Admission 2026-26 Eligibility Criteria
The Maharishi Dayanand University has eligibility criteria set for their courses. Every applicant is required to fulfil the basic eligibility criteria for the course they are enrolled in and wish to pursue from the university. As both the courses admissions, Bachelor of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (BHMCT) and Bachelor of Tourism & Travel Management (BTTM) are based on the merits obtained from class 12. While candidates have to secure atleast 45% marks in aggregate from any recognized Board.
Similarly for the admissions in LLB ( Hons.) Candidates need to complete their Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized University with atleast 45% marks in aggregate in any discipline.
. For admission in PG courses, candidates must have possessed UG degree in the relevant subject from a recognized university.
MDU Admission 2025-26 Entrance Exams
Eligibility for the admission are not only based on the merits as well as the entrance exams.
- Here, to get admission in B.Tech courses candidates have to apply for the JEE Main entrance exam followed by a councelling process which is conducted by Haryana State Technical Education Society (HSTES).
- Whereas to take admissions in M.Tech courses candidates get selected on the basis of marks obtained from GATE entrance exam.
- Accordingly the admissions to MPharm courses is accepted through the score obtained from GPAT entrance exam.
- While the MSc admission is based on a candidate’s performance which is the total marks obtained in the MDU Common Entrance Test (MDUCEE).

The process for registering for MDU Admission 2026-27 is quite simple.
