Karnataka Sanskrit University is a UGC approved state university which was established in 2010 by the Karnataka state Government. KSU is located in Pampa Mahakavi Road, Chamarajpet, Bangalore – 560 018. At present, the Karnataka Sanskrit University includes almost 10 aided and 9 unaided affiliated colleges and two constituent Sanskrit colleges.
There are 31 Sanskrit College and 243 aided veda and Sanskrit pathashalas in the state of Karnataka. For administration purpose Karnataka Government established Director of Sanskrit Education. The University includes 2 constituent Samskrit Colleges, 10 aided affiliated colleges and 9 unaided affiliated colleges.
The main aim of this university is to make control of all these college, pathshala and Educational Institute and to bring them under one umbrella to maintain uniformity in education and providing greater opportunity for students and teacher to raise the standards in Sanskrit research at National and International level
Karnataka Sanskrit university especially developed for Sanskrit Language. This language has a vast glorious heritage and tradition and its contribution in the areas of poetry, dance, drama, paintings, sculpture, medicine, fine arts and other allied areas. KSU Admission
The admissions process for KSU involves undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral level courses. For admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programs, candidates must take an entrance exam conducted by Karnataka Samskrit University in Bangalore. However, candidates who have passed the Kovida examination conducted by Samskrit Bharati need not take the entrance exam for postgraduate admission. For M.Phil and PhD programs, admission is based on entrance exam scores and performance in an interview. The step-by-step admission process for all programs is outlined below:
KSU Undergraduate Admission:
- Candidates should download the application form and submit it, along with the required documents, to apply for KSU admission.
- Candidates must appear for an entrance exam conducted by the university for undergraduate admission.
- Shortlisted candidates based on their entrance exam scores will proceed to the next stage of the KSU admission process.
- Shortlisted candidates must have their documents verified and pay the required fee to confirm their KSU admission.
- Final admission to the undergraduate program will be based on entrance exam scores, university-level document verification, and fee payment.
kSU Postgraduate Admission:
- Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria for their desired program must submit an online application on the university website for KSU admission.
- Candidates must take an entrance exam conducted by the university for postgraduate admission.
- Candidates who have passed the Kovida examination conducted by Samskrit Bharati need not take the entrance exam for postgraduate admission.
- Shortlisted candidates based on their entrance exam scores will proceed to the next stage of the KSU admission process.
- Shortlisted candidates must have their documents verified and pay the required fee to confirm their KSU admission.
- Final admission to the postgraduate program will be based on entrance exam scores, university-level document verification, and fee payment.
KSU M.Phil/PhD Admission:
- Candidates must submit the application form and all required documents on the university website to apply for KSU admission.
- Candidates must take an entrance test conducted by the university for M.Phil/PhD admission.
- Qualifying candidates will be called for an interview as part of the KSU admission process.
- Shortlisted candidates based on their entrance exam scores and interview performance will proceed to the next stage.
- Shortlisted candidates must have their documents verified and pay the required fee to confirm their KSU admission.
- Final admission to the M.Phil/PhD program will be based on entrance exam scores, interview performance, university-level document verification, and fee payment.

Karnataka Sanskrit University Eligibility Criteria
B.A : Must have passed from PUC/Sahitya or equivalent course with Sanskrit as a subject or Must have passed the B.A Entrance Exam conducted by the University for the students who have studied in PUC or equivalent course without Sanskrit.
M.A : Any Degree with Sanskrit as a subject or Must have passed Sahitya or equivalent course + Any Degree or Must have passed Certificate/ Diploma Course in Sanskrit/ Pali/ Prakrit/ Manuscript logy or have passed Pravesha exam or must have passed Kovida exam.
Ph.D: Master’s degree in Sanskrit with 55% from a recognized university.
Diploma in Sanskrit: PUS pass or equivalent
Karnataka Sanskrit University offers its UG, PG, doctoral, post-doctoral, diploma and certificate courses across specializations like Sanskrit language, Vedic Studies, Literature, along with several Shastras.

Karnataka Sanskrit University scholarships :
Karnataka Sanskrit University scholarships are offered to students who came from SC, ST, and Minority categories. The scholarships are offered under the following categories:
- Post-Matric Scholarship and Post-Metric Scholarship: Granted to more than 70,000 students
- Fee concession: Students from backward classes receive a 50% concession in academic fees as stated by the government of Karnataka.
- Karnataka Sanskrit University admissions are conducted through only offline mode. Please find some important highlights regarding admission to the courses offered by this University:
- Admission in BA program is based on the entrance exam conducted by the University
- Applications for BA and MA program must be submitted on or before 30th June 2026.
- Selection to Certificate and Diploma course will be done on the basis of merit list in the last qualifying exam (PUC)
- The University releases notification for Certificate and Diploma courses in June second week.
- For MA program, candidates will be selected on the basis of marks scored in graduation.
