About the International Maritime Institute
The International Maritime Institute was established in 1991. It is a Maritime Training School which provides residential courses to its students to develop their career in Maritime industry. Along with the quality in courses, the institute focuses on safety policy to ensure a smooth learning experience. The institute has tied up with various shipping companies to provide training opportunities. Along with the regular courses, it also provides coaching for IMU CET.

Admission remains open for all the courses. Details
- Pre sea courses includes- Diploma in nautical science with the course duration of one year, Bachelor of Technology in Marine which is a four year degree course, Graduate mechanical engineer in Marine Engineering with a duration of 1 year, Bachelor of Technology in Machine engineering lateral entry with the duration of 3 years, electro technical officers course with the course duration of 4 months, Certificate course in Maritime catering with a duration of 6 months, GP rating with the duration of 6 months.
- Post Sea courses include basic safety training, basic training for oil and chemical tanker, high voltage switch gear management level course, High Voltage safety and switch gear operational level course, passenger vertical integration course for trainers, refresher training for proficiency fire prevention and fire fighting, security training for seafarers with designated security, Marine electrical and electronics revalidation training courses and similar other courses.
Note- The duration of Post Sea courses vary from as short as one day to a maximum of 12 days.
Coaching
The institute provides coaching for IMU CET test which is conducted by Indian Maritime University, Chennai which includes classes, workshops, grooming sessions and Interview preparation. It is a regular course with the duration of 2 months, students can also opt for crash course of 1 month
International Maritime Institute Campus
The institute provides residential programs only. Students are called cadets here and they have set a proper routine for working days and Sundays and other holidays which includes a proper time to wake up, to do physical training, breakfast, classes, sports, swimming, dinner, instructional classes and to sleep. Lodging facilities include well designed rooms and dormitories. Diet is well balanced. They have a library equipped with technical books on all the related subjects and recreational ones as well. Cadets wear uniforms which are supplied by the institute itself.

The institute witnesses the visit of many prominent shipping industry players such as Maersk Line, Maersk Tankers, VR Maritime, PIL, Fleet, MSC, Synergy and many more. In order to prepare students, the institute conducts personality development classes and is equipped with practices through internal assessments.
