IELTS Speaking Test 2024 Pattern
The IELTS Speaking Test has its paper divided in 3 parts containing different types of question in each section. In the very first part, the examiner would be asking you for your self introduction, followed by a task card in which you will be asked to present your thoughts on a specific topic. In the third part of the test, the examiner would ask you several questions related to the topic you chose in part 2.

Part 1
Examiner will ask you to give your introduction and then, will ask you general questions about yourself and some familiar topics such as home, city, family, work, studies, hobbies, point of views, interests, etc. This part generally takes around 5 minutes to complete.
Part 2
You will be given a task card and you are would be asked to select a topic and speak about that topic. You will be given 1 minute to gather your thoughts and arrange them in a meaningful and beautiful manner. You need to speak for about 2 minutes. After that examiner will ask you two to three questions about the topic. This will be the end of this part of the test. This part takes around 3 to 4 minutes to complete
Part 3
This is the last part of the test. In this part you will be further asked questions related to the topic you selected in part 2. This part will be more of a discussion type. In this part you will have to discuss more abstract ideas and issues. This part takes around 5 minutes to complete.
While the listening, reading and writing test are always conducted one after the other, on the same day. But, you get a chance to select your speaking test date yourself. You can choose the same day as of listening, reading and writing test itself or, you can select a date 3 days prior to or after the main test day.
