Deccan College is the UGC accredited university. This University is established in the year 1821. This institute is named as a deemed university in year 1990. Although it started working as deemed in the year 1994. Deccan college is mostly known for its oldness. As it is a third ancient college in India. This University is located in Yerwada, Pune.

The university provides all necessary facilities to the students such as hostel facilities for both boys and girls, central library, museum, cafeteria for both staff and students, gymnasium, computer-assisted language laboratory, archaeological laboratories, ATM services and many more facilities. The university provides job and placement opportunities to the students.

The Admissions are now available at this instance for the following courses such as M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. Degree courses in Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology, Linguistics, Sanscrit and Lexicography. 

Deccan University Eligibility Criteria for Admission:

The Merit list of the last bachelor level examination will be the selection Criteria for M.A. students. Although, the students must have a 55% percentage in his/her bachelor’s degree.

 The selection process of the M.Phil students is based on the institute entrance examination. And if the student has qualified in the GATE/NET/SET/JRF exam there will be no entrance exam for those students. 

The selection process of the Ph.D. students will be based on the institutes entrance examination. And if candidate have passed GATE/NET/SET/M.Phil/JRF examinations then there will be no need for the entrance examination for them. 

1. M.A. – The student applying for M.A. must have a degree of B.A. in the any relevant field with a minimum of 55% percentage or degree of B.Sc. in any relevant field with a minimum aggregate of 55%.

2. M.Phil. – The candidate applying for the M.Phil must have a post-graduation degree in the relevant field.

3. Ph.D. – In the like manner here also candidate should have a degree of post-graduation.

Following Courses Provided by Deccan University

A total of 60 seats is there for the M.A. students. This University will only take the admissions of regular students.

There are 10 seats for each of the following specialization in the M.Phil course.

There is maximum 5 year limit for a Ph.D. student to complete his degree.

Candidates who wish to seeking admission in Ph.D. programs, must have possessed PG degree in the relevant subject with minimum 60% of marks from a recognized university. Admission will be based on an entrance test followed by personal interview.

Deccan University Application Process for Admission :

The students who wants to register their application for the following courses can follow the steps given below – 

• Firstly, students should visit the official website of the Institute.
• Before filling the application form please read the guidelines carefully because the incomplete form will be rejected.
• Attach documents with the application form:
  • 10th mark sheet (for age proof)
  • 12th mark sheet and Certificate
  • degree certificate for admission in PG courses
  • identity card
  • character certificate issued by the last attended institute/university/board
  • transfer certificate
• The application form can be filled online for Ph.D.
• Candidates must submit the hard copy of the application form to the institute within the 10th of June 2024. Because after the last date form will be rejected.
• The Hard copy of a form with Rs. 300 as application fee including some essential xerox copy of documents for admission must be submitted to the Institute. 

  Note:  The date of the entrance exam for M.A., M.Phil, Diploma courses is from Jun 2024. Interview for the M.A., M.Phil., and Diploma will be held on Jun 2024. The result will be announced on Jun 2024.
