Duration of the MBBS course
Before starting the MBBS India registration process, it is recommended that you get all the information about the length of the MBBS course.
The duration of the MBBS course, including one year of rotating internship, is 5 ½. The internship is compulsory and you can only complete the course by completing an internship. The duration of an MBBS academic course is 4 and a half years consisting of nine semesters. MCI (Medical Council of India) is the only body approved in India for the MBBS course. The Medical Council of India is responsible for structuring / reforming the MBBS course in India.

MBBS 2023 registration process
Admissions to MBBS in India for the 2023 academic session start in July 2023 because the NEET exam was postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. In India, the MBBS admissions process is based solely on entrance exams and direct access to an MBBS course is not possible without an entrance exam. Therefore, MBBS issuers must pass the MBBS admissions test to gain access.
MBBS Entrance Exams in India
NEET is the only entrance exam to access MBBS / BDS / BVSc / UG AYUSH courses.
NEET-UG: NEET-UG (National Eligibility Ability Test) is a national MBBS entrance exam. All government-rated medical colleges, universities, and universities have a NEET-UG score for admission to the MBBS. NEET-UG generally takes place in May of each year. What is the best MBBS entrance exam in India?
Until last year, there were three major entrance exams in India: NEET-UG, AIIMS MBBS, JIPMER MBBS. Starting from this academic year, eg. However, in the 2023 academic year, entry to MBBS / BDS courses in India including AIIMS and JIPMER institutes will only take place on the basis of NEET exams.

How to apply for an MBBS course?
After approval by NEET-UG, the respective admission authority will initiate a centralized admission process for MBBS entries. A Medical Advisory Committee (CMC) will conduct an admission process for an MBBS course through NEET-UG. Students who have passed the entrance exam and are on the merit list can participate in the advisory process. Students must submit a separate application form for the MBBS course to individual institutions.
MBBS eligibility criteria
The MBBS eligibility criteria for MBBS entrance exams and MBBS course are as follows:
- The basic requirement for admission and MBBS India Entrance Exam is class 12 with at least 50% marks. Students must have studied biology, physics and chemistry as the main subjects of class 12.
- The minimum age limit for the MBBS exam and the India entrance exam is 17 years old and the upper age limit is 25 years old.
MBBS admission process via NEET
The Medical Advisory Committee (MCC) is the authority for MBBS admissions through NEET-UG. However, MCC performs the MBBS entry process through NEET for an entry of 15% AIQ (All India Quota). Students competing for MBBS AIQ admissions are eligible for admission to any medical school in the country. For 85% of MBBS positions, state governments complete the MBBS entry process.
NEET-UG results are usually released in June, and advice for an MBBS course under AIQ and state fees begins the second week of June each year. Only candidates who were on the merit list issued by the MCC can participate in the admissions process. Execution and Blocking Settings – At this point in the registration process, applicants should submit their preferences. Students should note that admission to MBBS via NEET is based on the merit of NEET-UG and the options available during the counseling process. The applicants’ choices are unlimited. After selecting the options, candidates can change the order of the options, add new options, or remove existing options. Finally, lock the options to qualify for a seat assignment.
Seat Allocation: The result of the seat allocation will be announced based on the earnings of NEET-UG and the options blocked by the candidates. Applicants can download the seat allocation letter from the official website.

MBBS entry process in AIIMS via NEET
As of 2023, the AIIMS MBBS exam has been abolished and NEET is the only entrance exam in India admitted to the MBBS course. The AIIMS MBBS registration process starts in July of each year. However, as of 2023, the AIIMS MBBS entry dates will be the NEET notification dates, and MCC is responsible for initiating the notification process for AIIMS MBBS entries. AIIMS New Delhi will not publish the list of candidates’ merits and MCC will publish a separate list of merits. Candidates who were on the MCC AIQ performance list are eligible for the AIIMS MBSS registration process.
MBBS admission to JIPMER through NEET entrance examination
As of 2023, the JIPMER MBBS exam will be abolished and NEET will be the only entrance exam included in the MBBS course. The JBSMER MBBS enrollment process begins in June of each year. However, from 2023 onwards, the JBSMER MBBS entry dates will correspond to the consultation dates set by MCC for admission to an MBBS course. All places in the MBBS course offered by both JIPMER locations are included in the All India quota, and candidates wishing to attend JIPMER must apply for an AIQ place.
