Bharathiar University has released application forms for the 2026 session, and registration has already begun. The deadline to apply for Bharathiar University PhD Admission 2026-27 is May 15, 2026.

Bharathiar University is a UGC recognised and NAAC accredited that was established in 1981. More than 100 colleges are affiliated to Bharathiar University. Admissions are offered based on entrance examination or on merit. Bharathiar University is one of the leading universities in Tamil Naidu, India. The university is the preamble to high standards and highly qualified teachers.

The Bharathiar University was established at Coimbatore by the Government of Tamilnadu in February 1982 under the Bharathiar University Act, 1981 (Act 1 of 1982). The erstwhile Postgraduate Centre of the University of Madras formed the core of the Bharathiar University, which was functioning at Coimbatore before 1982. University Grants Commission (UGC) recognised Bharathiar University in 1985 for grants. Currently, the university offers admission to PG and doctoral courses.

Bharathiar University offers many different courses in different streams. 

Bharathiar University recommends an assortment of courses comprising diverse subjects, at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and at the doctorate level. 

The university also offers Distance Education for the students who want to add an enhancement to their resume.

 Application forms can be filled either of the ways i.e. Offline or Online. And it is beneficial for the students, as they get alternative ways of applying to different courses. 

The university has excellent placement record. The various companies are visit in the university, some of them are :- Infosys Technologies Ltd., ITC, NIIT, Oracle Corporation, Reliance Telecom, Coffee Day, Food World, India Construction.com, ICICI Lombard, Hyundai Motors Ltd., Jet Airways, BPL Telecom, Bharat Planet.com, and many more companies.

The university offers all the basic facilities like fitness centre, guest house, university hospital, Library, Auditoriums and Halls etcetera. Besides specially for the outstation students the university also has separate hostels for both boys as well as girls. Both hostels are taken care of by their respective wardens. The hostel also has some very clear and specific rules and regulations of staying in the university’s hostel which are mentioned on the official website of the university.

Bharathiar University Admission 2026-27

The university offers admission to PG and research courses. Bharathiar University PG admissions are done through TANCET –  Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test. The entrance examination is conducted to fill PG seats. On the other hand, doctoral level seats are filled through CET followed by an interview. Selection to the PG courses is based either on qualifying marks (direct admission) or on the basis of performance in an entrance examination conducted by the university. MBA admissions are done based on TANCET followed by centralised counselling. Basic eligibility for PG admission is to hold a bachelor’s degree. Instructions to apply online:

Candidates should have upload the scanned images of their mark sheets, community certificate, photograph and signature in the JPG format. While filling the application from please attach these documents at their appropriate places. Candidates must have a valid email Id and mobile number because these are mandatory in for the applying online.

 Bharathiar University Application Form:

  The application form filling process can be done both ways- Offline or Online. It all depends on the choice of the aspirant.

The Offline Application Forms have already been released on   February 2026 for B.Ed. And the last date to fill the form offline is August 2026.

These forms are to be obtained from the University Office with the form fee of Rs.300. 

The application fee for categories like SC/ST/OBC is Rs.150. And the students belonging to these categories need to submit the photocopy of caste certificate.

Candidates can also choose to fill the application forms- Online. For this, they need to download the form from the official website of the University. And submit the same with the application fee.

• SSLC Mark Sheet.
• HSC Mark Sheet.
• Degree Mark Sheets.
• Community Certificate.
• Provisional / Degree Certificate (if already qualified for degree)
• Certificate of extra-curricular activities, if any.
• Certificate of disablement (for disabled students).

Bharathiar University Online Registration:

Candidates can also choose to fill the application forms- Online. For this, they need to download the form from the official website of the University. And submit the same with the application fee. Students should possess the following stated requirements:

• Valid E-mail ID.
•  Passport Size Photograph.
• Demand Draft of INR 300/- as application fee for OC / BC / MBC / DNT candidates.
• Demand Draft of INR 150/- as application fee in case SC / ST  candidates, on the production of attested photocopy of community certificate.
•  The applicants must submit the printout of the application form, also necessary documents like caste certificate, photocopy of degrees, etc, and send it together with the demand draft (DD) to the Registrar, Bharathiar University, payable at Coimbatore.  

 Bharathiar University Eligibility Criteria:

 University has its branches spread into different directions and each branch directs to a different course that is followed by its own unique eligibility criteria. A general guideline is specified down below:

At Under Graduate level:  Students should have passed 10+2 in any respective field from a recognized board or university.

At Post Graduate level: Candidate should be a graduate in the respective field from any recognized university or institute.

Selection Procedure:

The selection in PG Courses will be done through marks scored by the candidates in the entrance examination and the average marks secured by them upto five semesters. Entrance test will be conducted through online/offline which will be informed by the University.

Entrance examination will consist 60 objective type questions and duration of the examination will be 90 minutes.

Consolidated Mark Sheet

Candidates can obtain the application forms through the enquiry counter or can be obtained from the university by sending a self-addressed stamp of Rs. 10/- along with the request letter.

Payment can be done through the bank challan or by DD. 

Application form along with relevant documents should be sent to the Registrar.

Consolidated mark sheet will be sent to the candidates within a month. Application Fee: Rs. 200/-

Entrance exam:

The university conducts an entrance examination for 90 minutes and asks 60 questions. After qualifying the examination, the students have to move forward to attend the counseling session. The students can get the admit card before 5-7 days before the examination.
