In 2014, Bankura University was established. In the fields of language, literature, cultural studies, and various branches of science, the university has 25 constituent colleges and 9 departments. Bankura University consists of various departments i.e. Department of Bengali, Department of English, Department of Education, Department of History, Department of Mathematics, Department of Philosophy, Department of Political Science and many more. There are three types of programmes offered by the University i.e. Under Graduate Programmes, Post Graduate Programmes and Ph.D. Programmes. For any specific course, the basic admission requirements are determined on the basis of merit.

The students can fill the application form online through official website of the university and pay fees online using networking and debit cards and credit cards. The students take print out of the application form, payslip and reference number for the future.
The University charges Rs 300 INR from SC and ST category students whereas Rs 400 INR from other category students. This fees is charged only once at the time of admission. It also charges Rs 300 INR from all students as registration fees. Registration fees is also to be paid for once.
