About
As a unitary form of university, Anna University was founded on 4 September 1978. It offers higher education in engineering, technology and related sciences relevant to society’s current and projected needs. It promotes cooperation between the academic and industrial communities, in addition to promoting research and disseminating knowledge acquired from it. The University was formed by bringing two well-known technical institutions in the city of Madras together and integrating them. Located in the southern part of the city of Madras (Chennai), the main campus of the University extends over 100 hectares north of the Adyar River and south of Raj Bhavan. The Madras Institute of Technology at Chrompet is the university’s second campus, extending over 20 hectares. There are a number of buildings on both campuses that serve the different needs of the university community. At Taramani, near the Instronic campus, Adyar, there is a third campus stretching over 80 hectares. SPIC’s donated Bioprocess Laboratory is currently located on this campus and a few more specialised research centres, such as the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), the Sugar Research Institute, the Mechatronics Institute, in the future, the Entrepreneurship Growth Park and Conference Centre will also be located there.
The Anna University in Chennai, Tamil Nadu was founded on 4th September 1978. Admission
A traditional entrance test, the Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination (TNPCEE), was used until 2006 as a basis for admission to professional courses in the state. Beginning in the academic year 2007-08, on the basis of their higher secondary marks, students were admitted to engineering colleges. The admission process is carried out through TANCET and GATE scores.

Duration of course and Fees
The duration of undergraduate courses are 4-5 years whereas that for postgraduate and doctorate courses are 2 years. The average fees range from INR 50,000 – INR 4,35,000 depending on the type and duration of course. Generally, the fees of undergraduate courses are more than that of postgraduate courses.

Students shall be deemed to pass the examination if they have obtained the minimum necessary passing marks and have cleared all the paper for which it appears. All of the qualified students will be promoted to the next semester. Students who are not happy with the marks secured in the exam may apply for a reassessment of the response script. Revaluation of Answer Script
Students who score less marks or fail in one or two papers can apply for a reassessment of the response script. To apply for reassessment, students must fill out the application form. Students must fill out the application form and submit it within the specified date. After the last day, no application form will be approved. About Anna University Examination
