IGNOU is a public open learning university, which is located at Maidan Garhi in New Delhi, India, which was established in 1985. The name was given after our former prime minister Indira Gandhi. It was established only when the parliament of India passed the Indira Gandhi National Open University Act, 1985 (IGNOU Act 1985). The founder of IGNOU is the Government of India. IGNOU has 21 schools, 67 regional centres, 2667 study centres, and 29 overseas centres in 15 countries. The only recommendation by the working group was, the university must have an administration all over the country so that when the open university develops to the fullest, any students, even students from remote areas can access their degree
Certificate Courses Offered by IGNOU School of Foreign Languages
The idea of an open university came through the seminar organised by Dipanshu Sharma, the Ministry of Education and Social on the topic ‘Open University. The seminar was in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the UGC, and the Indian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO. After this seminar, an open university was established in India on a Trial basis. In 1974, an eight-member working group was appointed by the government of India to the open university, G. Parthasarathi, lead the leading role who was the Vice-Chancellor of the Jawaharlal Nehru University. In 1989, the first meeting was held and more than 1000 students graduated. Based on 2011 statistics, IGNOU has served over 3 million students in India and more than 40 abroad countries.
School of Foreign Languages (SOFL) is one such school in IGNOU, which was established in 2007. The main aim of SOFL is to have a flexible course for every learner who wishes to learn foreign languages and to promote communication across all borders of countries. The admission procedure is through the online application form provided by IGNOU.
ADMISSIONS
Language courses are offered by SOFL as both diploma and certificate programmes. Eight certificate courses and one diploma course make up the total. The application forms are now available online on the college website as the admissions process for the July term has started. To apply for admission to any of the available language courses, students must be fully informed of the requirements.

Enter the information requested in the form, including the student’s name, email address, contact information, graduation year, birthdate, gender, and category.
Click the submit button after that. The application number will be sent to the candidates’ registered mobile numbers.
They must submit the necessary paperwork online and pay the registration fee as specified. Other forms of payment cannot be made. Save the payment receipt as proof of payment.
The following stage entails filling out a form with information about educational credentials. To continue, applicants must select the save and continue option.
The verification of the application by college officials is the final stage.
IMPORTANT NOTIFICATIONS
The college website is frequently updated with all the most recent information regarding the curriculum, application forms, new admissions, assignment submissions, etc. as needed. To assist the students with the admissions process, the centre also has an administrative division. The merit scores achieved by the students are used to determine admittance. The university offers research as well as recommended study methods and a course programme.
