ABOUT IGNOU

One of the most well-known open universities, both nationally and globally renowned for the sheer volume of courses it offers, is IGNOU. The institution encourages distance learning by developing a number of innovative teaching strategies. The faculty is also very helpful and always tries to give students in the area a great education. The Regional Centre of Port Blair was founded in 2006,  it covers all three districts in Andaman & Nicobar islands there are 11 Study Centres in total which includes 5 Special Centres, 3 Program centres, 2 regular centres, and 1 Jail Centre. IGNOU Portal Blair offers 50 programs at UG, PG, and certificate levels. 

 The last date for Fresh Admission and Re-Registration for 2^nd year/semester or  3^rd year/semester in Indira Gandhi National Open University’s  July 2024 session, is extended up to August 2024 without any late fees. The regional centre has the power of jurisdiction over all three districts which are Andaman and Nicobar island. Along with it had a study centre with the southernmost as well as remotest part of India which is Campbell bay. The regional centre has the posses over 11 study centre of which 5 is special study centre are programme centre along with 2 regular study centre as well they provide education to the person who is in jail so 1 study centre is in jail. The main objectives of this regional centre are to promote and develop open learning distance education activities. Secondly, offering IGNOU programmes through a network of support centres located in different parts of the island where education can’t be reached smoothly. Third, providing an efficient quality student support network in Andamans. Fourth, providing higher education and training to large segments of the population. Fifth, providing education smoothly and in a flexible manner towards the students. Sixth, to encourage, assist and coordinate to improve the quality of education. IGNOU Port Blair admission procedure

The regional centre of port Blair provides 56 academic courses to the candidates. They provide an easy procedure for admission the candidate can easily enrol themselves into the university by applying for admission the university opens its admission twice a year. One is in January month along with another one in July. More than 50000 candidates enrol themselves with this regional centre every year. The candidates can of course apply online for admission into this regional centre. The application forms are made available online on the official website, where students must complete them and attach the appropriate paperwork to complete their applications. The student’s community certificate, grade reports for grades 10 and 12, a character reference letter, identification documentation such an aadhar card, and a transfer certificate are among the paperwork needed. Students can get the prospectus online by visiting the university’s official website. From the prospectus, students can learn everything they need to know about admission. The timetable also includes the last day for admittance. A two-step admissions process is run by the university every year.
