One of the top open universities is IGNOU, which strives to make information widely accessible to everyone by using cutting-edge techniques. One of these learning centers will be assigned depending on where you live or work. However, each learning center can only accept a limited number of students, and despite best efforts, it is not always possible to assign a learning center of your choice. Each study center has a coordinator who coordinates various activities within the center. Part-time appointed assistant coordinator and other support staff.

LATEST UPDATES 2024

As of right now, the final application deadline for the programmes offered by this regional centre is set for January 31, 2024, and any subsequent revisions will be announced on the center’s official website. Depending on the courses the students choose, the tuition ranges from Rs 12,000 to Rs 20,000. The nursing programme entrance exam is scheduled for January 8, 2024.

IGNOU Study Centre: List, Code name

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) study centre is a centre of education located in different parts of the country. It provides students with various options for courses in the streams of art, science, technology, management, commerce etc. The university is located in New Delhi, but its centers are widespread across the nation.

What is IGNOU study centre?

Your center will be allotted to you based on your address of residence or work. Since each centre admits a limited number of students, you may not always be allotted to your particular zonal centre. The details about your centre will be sent to you.

Functions of IGNOU study centre

Counselling: The study centres provide face to face counselling for the courses. They guide in a way that every student is up to date and informed about the etiquettes of IGNOU. For courses with 8 credits, there will be 10 counselling sessions and for courses with 4 credits, there will be 5 counselling sessions. The details about the counselling sessions will be sent to you by the coordinator of your study centre. It is compulsory for you to bring your units and folder along for the counselling sessions.

Library: Books required for the course under the name of “suggested reading” will be available in the study centre’s library. Audio and videotapes are available too for reference and as study material.

Audio-Video facilities: As mentioned earlier, each centre has audio and video cassettes prepared for every course for better understanding of the concepts. The media notes for these tapes are also available at the centres.

Evaluation of assignments: Different counsellors who are appointed for different courses will evaluate your Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA). Feedbacks and marks will be given for the same which will help you in the betterment of your course.

Information and advice: Every centre provides the students with information about the course, counselling schedule, examination schedule and curriculum. You will also be guided while selecting your electives and application-oriented courses.

Interaction with fellow-students: IGNOU study centre also gives you an opportunity to interact with people and grow your friend circle.

REGIONAL CENTRES- Indira Gandhi National Open University has 56 regional centres, out of which 11 are recognized regional centres. These 11 centres comprise of 6 IGNOU-Army RRC, 4 IGNOU-Navy RRC and 1 IGNOU-Assam Rifles RRC. IGNOU also runs around 2000 Learner Support Centres (LSC) in our country. The hitherto deprived rural, remote, socially and physically disadvantaged segments of the population have been reached through these regional and learner support centres, thus providing them with cost-effective and quality education in the simplest form.

Change of Regional Centre

The regional centre has to be selected during the time of admission. Information regarding the change of regional centre is done through the study centre of that region.

  1. When you need to transfer from one regional centre to another, you have to write a letter to that centre from where you’re seeking transfer and also send copies to the place of transfer. You will also have to send a copy to the Registrar (SRD), New Delhi.
  2. You will then have to seek a certificate from the Coordinator of the Study Centre from where you’re transferring, mentioning that you need to transfer. The Coordinator has to mention the number of assignments you submitted before transferring.
  3. The regional director of your prior centre will further transfer all your records to the regional centre, where you seek transfer under intimation to you and Registrar.
  4. To avoid loss during postal transit, the documents or records are sent by registered post.

Is IGNOU Study Centre and IGNOU Regional Centre the same?

No. The regional centres are mainly for official procedures such as admissions, queries regarding study programs, and information about books and study materials. It can be done at the regional centres or even through calls.

The study material is also available online on the official website of the college which is very easy to operate upon.

Whereas, the study centres are based only on the students to study, attend classes on Saturdays and Sundays. The study centres are also based on the submission of all assignments.
