IGNOU is one of the largest Open Universities in the World which provides admission to various courses. There are approximately 4 million students studying at this University. The admissions are taken in the form of 2 cycles conducted in the months of January and July. The admissions for the month of July are open.
Admission to IGNOU is open to all ages. Both formal and informal admissions processes are used. For the official plan, a 10+2 or its equivalent from an approved institution is the minimal criterion for admission to the B.A. programme. The non-formal programme is for students who did not pass the 10+2 exam or a comparable exam. They must first successfully complete the IGNOU BPP (Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme) in order to be admitted to the degree programme.

The admissions for the January session are going to begin soon for the bachelor of arts course. The re-registration process have also started for the upcoming session and the students have to apply before December 2024. The institution conducts admission in two sessions – one in the monthe of January and the other in the monthe of July. Recently, the latter month admission have been completed and the academic session started and the preparations are going on for admissions under the former session. The assignment submission dates have been extended till January 2024.

Important note for students applying under SC/ST category – The SC/ST students’ facility for fee exemption can only be used for one programme during a given admission cycle. All applications submitted by a candidate who requests a fee waiver in more than one instance will be rejected. The students choose to further their study through BA programmes. IGNOU BA Eligibility Criteria:
There is no age for admission to IGNOU. Admissions are conducted in both formal and non-formal schemes. For the formal scheme, the minimum requirement for admission in the B.A. program is a 10+2 or its equivalent from an accredited institution. IGNOU BA Schedule for Re-registration:
The B.A. program is a semester-wise program. The results are available after each individual semester, but the registration needs to be done annually (after every two semesters). After initial registration at the beginning of the program, students need to re-register themselves at the inception of each academic year, that is, at the beginning of the second year (for 3rd and 4th semesters) and at the beginning of the third year (for 5th and 6th semesters).

Psychology courses have a Practicum component. Learners opting for Psychology are required to pay an extra fee of INR 600.

Assignments for IGNOU B.A. Programme:
Students must complete assignments on a regular basis throughout the year in order to be evaluated. Marks obtained through assignment submission will count for 30% of the overall semester grade. The assignments must be finished and turned in by the deadlines specified; failing to do so may prevent the student from taking the final exam for that particular course. If anyone takes the term-ending exam despite having not turned in their assignments by the deadline, their final term grade may be cancelled.
APPLICATION FEE 2024
MODE OF PAYMENT: Both online and offline methods are available for paying the charge. Those who want to pay online can do so with a credit card, debit card, or net banking option.
Those who prefer to pay in cash can do so by going to the Akshaya Centers & Friends Janasevana Kendram and paying in person.
SELECTION PROCESS: Depending on demand and seat availability, different courses have distinct selection procedures. For certain courses, an entrance exam is given; for the others, admission is granted based on the student’s performance on the qualifying exam.
IGNOU B.A. Programme Study Material:
The dispatch of study materials will start once the process of online registration is complete. Students can expect to receive the study material within one month of closing of the registration for the Bachelor’s programme.
